Moving Towards Transformational Adaptation
/
This session in the CLARE webinar series created a practical and reflective space for exchange, bringing together participants from across the climate adaptation and resilience community and beyond. Held on 20 August, the webinar focused on “Moving Towards Transformational Adaptation”.
This webinar explored how CLARE research is enabling and supporting transformational adaptation across the Global South. Drawing on experiences from Africa and Asia, the discussion reflected on how transdisciplinary, co-produced research can help create pathways towards transformational adaptation.
The session was guided by the six key dimensions of transformation mentioned by UNFCCC 2025: depth of deliberate change, scope and scale of change, speed of change, limits to change, adaptive sustainability, and relevance. Through examples from CLARE projects, participants explored how these dimensions can be applied in practice to support long-term resilience and equitable development.
Moderated by Biplav Pradhan from PlanAdapt and the CLARE Capacity Strengthening (CS) Hub, the session featured perspectives from:
- Gina Ziervogel of the Tuwe Pamoja project
- Tyas Trialfhianty of the ClimateREEFS project
- Susan Kavuma of the WOSFER project
- Arnaud Soha of the Benin Health project
- Sylvia Miclat of the RURBANISE project
- Kate Gannon of the BASIN project
