Influencing policy – Research tools and practice that works: Insights from the CLARE webinar series

/

Across CLARE, projects are generating valuable lessons on how research can effectively inform policy and practice in the context of Locally Led Adaptation (LLA). However, influencing pathways are rarely linear.

This first session in the CLARE webinar series aimed to create a practical and reflective space for exchange, bring together participants from across the CLARE programme and beyond. Held on 29 May 2026, the session focused on “Influencing policy: Research tools and practice that works”.

“Evidence alone does not change policy. Reports do not automatically influence planning framework. Data does not automatically shift budgets. Publications do not automatically transform institutions. Impact requires intention.”

Edith Abilogo

The webinar was moderated by Blanche Butera of the ECONOGENESIS project and featured speakers, including:

  • Edith Abilogo (PALM-TREEs), who set the scene by discussing co-production and influencing pathways in Locally Led Adaptation.
  • Zachary Misiani (PALM-TREEs), who shared lessons on the Kenya policy landscape.
  • Amina Maharajan (SUCCESS), who discussed changing narratives on migration.
  • Monique Yigbedek (PALM-TREEs), who presented a gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) profile tool.
  • Laura Washington (PALM-TREEs), who shared a tool to support the advocacy efforts of civil society.

The webinar also featured the following panellists:

  • Patience Adaje of the REBUMAA project
  • Evelyn Lorenzo of the RURBANISE project
  • Amina Maharajan of the SUCCESS project
  • Zachary Misiani of the PALM-TREEs project
